Spotlight publishing label launched by Quantic Dream.

Quantic Dream, a French gaming company, has introduced a new publishing label called Spotlight. This venture was revealed at the Summer Games Fest and already has two titles in its stable – Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior, a single-player hack-n-slash, and Under the Waves, an underwater adventure game. Spotlight by Quantic Dream offers a range of services to independent studios, including financing, production support, art and tech advice, as well as QA and localization, on top of marketing and comms.

According to Guillaume de Fondaumière, Quantic Dream's CEO and head of publishing, the company has been making its own games for 26 years. Having been through the process of producing and publishing titles multiple times, they know the challenges a studio will inevitably encounter and how to overcome them to make a good game. Spotlight by Quantic Dream highlights the independent studios they believe in and supports their passion for their projects with all the expertise and resources of their own development studio and experienced editorial team. This label also serves as a guarantee of quality for gamers and their community, telling them that these games were carefully selected and that the team behind them had Quantic Dream's support.

This news comes after years of bad PR for Quantic Dream. In 2018, it was accused of fostering a toxic working environment, which the studio denies. Quantic Dream took two of the three publications that reported on this for libel and won against Le Monde. The company had previously announced plans to start self-publishing their own games after relying on third parties. They were acquired by Chinese games giant NetEase in 2022.
